About the event
The Decatur Area Audubon invites the Decatur community to join us in the annual winter Climate Watch Bird Count. The count covers multiple pre-determined routes of varying length and difficulty across the greater Deactur Area.
This important annual community science project provides important data on the effects of climate change on birds across North America. Since a 2019 report published by the National Audubon Society, "Survival by Degrees", which stated that up to two-thirds of North American bird species are threatened with extinction due to our quickly rising global temeratures, the Climate Watch Bird Count has provided essential data for researches as we collaborate to battle climate change.
The winter Climate Watch Bird Count is scheduled for Saturday, January 17th, with a rain date of Saturday, February 3rd.
